At level 1, you gain the following equipment:
- A melee weapon (or weapons) appropriate to your class
- Armor appropriate for your class
- A ranged weapon with which you are proficient (non-spellcasters)
- A standard adventuring kit:
- Backpack
- Sleeping roll
- Traveling clothes
- Cold weather gear (in appropriate climate)
- Several torches
- 10' of hemp rope
- Hammer
- Axe
- 5 days' trail rations and 2 days' water
- Money:
- You begin with 1 silver shilling and 5 copper pennies.
Alternatively, you can start with 1.5gp, and none of the above.
Starting Wealth
When starting a game at levels higher than 1st, the following can be used as a guideline. Similarly, these guidelines can be used to determine wealth targets as PCs gain wealth through adventuring. In both cases, these guidelines are meant to inform the DM; they have final say.
